Police asked to focus on speeding hotspots in Bamburgh

A speed camera van recently spent time in the village monitoring traffic speeds in the village centre.
However, Bamburgh Parish Council vice chairman Andy Bardgett hopes police officers will focus other areas when they return.

Hide AdHe said: “It was slightly disappointing that of four locations surveyed – three of which showed speeding – that the camera van went to the location that didn’t.”
Meanwhile, alternatives to the disintegrating rumble strips at the entrances to the village are still being worked up.
Coun Guy Renner-Thompson, member for Bamburgh ward on Northumberland County Council, said: “We want them removed as they are unsightly. Alternatives are being drawn up by the design team and I am assured we should have them shortly.”
