Sliproad from A1 in Northumberland reopens to traffic after being hit by flooding

The sliproad on the northbound carriageway leading onto the A197 at Clifton has been now reopened by Highways England following the heavy downpour today, Wednesday, February 3.
Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service had been on the scene of a flooding incident at Stanley Burn, near Prudoe, and shared photos of the road submerged beneath rain water.

Hide AdIt also issued advice to drivers due to the large amount of water on the roads and told motorists: “If you really have to go out then please drive to the conditions, keep your distance and slow down.”
Forecasters have predicted days of rain ahead for the North East, leading into an ice and snow warning this weekend.
Further into next week, the region has been warned to expect heavy snow, with a chance the conditions could be like the 2018 Beast from the East as temperatures drop.
