AMONG all the other financial worries we are beset with at the moment is the problem of keeping the Playhouse going.
Alnwick is so lucky to have this magnificent resource. Everybody benefits, from the children of all ages, and I mean all ages, who take part in dramatic productions, to the adults who can hold band and choir rehearsals in a suitable venue without breaking the bank, to the various rug making and writing groups and all sorts of the categories of people sharing an interest.
And this is before we get to the incredible range of plays and entertainments, to amateur and professional, that occupy the stage.
Oh, and don't forget the magnificent range of films that are put on for our delectation – no worries about catching the last bus back to Alnwick late at night.
All in all, the Playhouse must be as valued by the people of Alnwick at least as much as the Castle and the Garden.
I hope they will support it by going to as many things as they can, and by encouraging the faceless money men to support it financially as much as possible. It is a great moral booster.

J Young,
Dispensary Street,
Alnwick
