I WOULD like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who put so much time and effort into Simonside Country Fair at Forestburngate on Sunday. Unfortunately, the heavy rain the night before left the show field impassable, the only course left open to us was to cancel the event. This was a great disappointment to all involved.
We did manage to hold the clay pigeon shoot and the fell race, and Rothbury pipe band which was due to open the fair played for everyone who had come along to support us. Thanks must go to the displays, stalls and exhibitors for their understanding on the morning of the fair and I hope they and all the people who spent so much time on show entries will accept our apologies and come along again next year.

In the Simonside Country Fair's short existence we have given away more than £84,000 to local charities. This will be curtailed this year but we will be back, hopefully with your support next year.
Robert Famelton
Simonside Country Fair Chairman
