FUND-RAISERS are answering an SOS by collecting their loose change.
For the members of Alnwick Ladies Lifeboat Guild, the SOS in the RNLI's national SOS Fund-Raising Day on January 30 next year stands for Save Our Sixpences.
They have decided to save five pence pieces – which makes many of them remember the old pre-decimal sixpence – and hope to have collected quite a haul by January.
The Guild's Christmas lunch is being held at the White Swan Hotel, Alnwick, on December 3 at 12.30pm, followed by musical entertainment from Elizabeth Anderson and Howard Layfield.
Visitors are always welcome. Ring 01665 603653 for details.
