TENANTS of council homes in Alnwick district are to be consulted about how their properties may be managed after local government re-organisation in the county next April.
Within Northumberland, only Alnwick district and Blyth Valley borough councils still own residential property in their areas.

When the new single unitary council takes over, it will be responsible for the management of housing services and how thi
s will be done is now under discussion.

Alnwick district's housing stock is managed by the district council and in Blyth Valley by Blyth Valley Housing Ltd.

The change would not affect the service provided to tenants or their rights. They will be kept informed of developments through newsletters.

There is also a freephone number – 0800 0461431 – and an email address – housingproposals@alnwick.gov.uk – which can be used for inquiries.

Tenants who live in sheltered accommodation will be invited to consultation coffee mornings at those premises.

Other tenants are being invited to attend one of eight meetings in Alnwick, Amble, Embleton, Felton, Longframlington, Rothbury, Shilbottle or Warkworth, which will be held between Monday, December 1 and Monday, December 8.

Representatives from the district council will be present to explain the proposals and answer questions.
