Trees replanted in memory of Rachel

MEMORIAL trees dedicated to a 15-year-old girl, which were washed away in the September floods, have been replaced.
They had been among a number of dedicated remembrance trees in a patch at Riverside Park, The Stanners, Warkworth.
Heavy rain had submerged the area, damaging or washing away most of the vegetation.
But a trio of rowan trees, donated by Heighly Gate Garden Centre, were planted yesterday.
It was a special token for Carol and Mike Smith, of Warkworth, as the new plants replaced those in memory of their daughter, Rachel. The couple had paid for the original trees which were washed away.
Mike said: "We are over the moon and we are very grateful to Heighly Gate."
Stuart Elliott, chairman of Warkworth Parish Council, added: "I think it is a very generous gesture from them. They have helped the Warkworth in Bloom committee a lot and the village has a good relationship with Heighly Gate."
