A memorial tree is to take centre stage at The Co-operative Funeralcare, in Alnwick, this Christmas to help bereaved members of the community remember loved ones during the festive season.

Family and friends who have lost a loved one are being invited to the funeral home on Fenkle Street to decorate the tree with cards in memory of their loved one.

The Co-operative Group and British Red Cross have partnered up to help tackle loneliness and isolation across UK communities. Families can, if they wish, leave a small donation to support this work.

Mandy Mallaburn, of Alnwick Funeralcare, said: “Christmas can be a difficult and painful time and the memorial tree has always proved to be a great help for bereaved relatives and friends.

“We hope it will help families make a tribute to their loved ones at this difficult time.”

The funeral home is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 4.30pm. For details, call 01665 602328.
