The annual campaign, this year taking place between Monday, June 8 and Sunday, June 14, shines a light on the wonderful people putting their own health and safety on the line to look after our families and communities. We asked you to nominate your heroes for Carers Week – and you can click through 21 pictures of those making us proud.
1. Christine Watson
Sharon Smith: This lovely lady who I've had the pleasure to know and work with for a lot of years. I've seen her go above and beyond over the years to make sure customers have the best care possible and also gives just as much care to her collegues. Photo: UGC
2. Elaine Hume
Eileen Stringer: My dear friend and ex-colleague Elaine Hume from Sunderland Care and Support, always goes above and beyond. Photo: UGC
3. Liz Davie
Louise Brennan: My mother deserves a medal. Not only is she a key worker looking after vulnerable people in two different jobs, she also took my nana in as she broke her shin and has dementia whilst also caring for my stepdad, dropped essentials off for me and several other households and she has baked her gorgeous goodies. 4. Stephen Gilley
Melanie Gilley: My son Stephen Gilley who is a carer at Falstone Manor, always trying to make residents and everyone else happy no matter how he is feeling inside. I am so proud of him and love him more than he will ever know. Photo: UGC
