A team of IT consultants is heading to Northumberland to push their bodies to the limit in aid of a children’s charity.

As part of Capita’s wider charitable work, a team of 15 employees will attempt to pull an aircraft weighing over 1,300kg over the course of 2x500m – requiring the aircraft to be brought to a halt and the route reversed to cover the whole 1km.

The event will take place at Eshott Airfield at approximately 12noon and the team will take on their challenge while enduring whatever is thrown at them by the November Northumberland climate.

The runway will be closed for the event for the safety of participants and spectators. However, public access to the airfield will be maintained and members of the public are welcome to attend.

This is the latest challenge by Capita in aid of Action for Children, having previously supported the charity’s annual Boycott Your Bed fundraising event.

Catherine Schroeter, regional fundraising manager at Action for Children, said: “The devastating cost-of-living crisis has pushed even more families into financial difficulty, so it is essential that we continue to be there for them when they need us most.

“We are incredibly grateful to Capita for choosing to support Action for Children and we wish them the very best with their challenge.

“Their support will help us to give children in North East and across the country a safe and happy childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive.”

The charity’s provision includes 20 community-based services across the North East.
