TRIBUTE: Gallery owes much to Ian
When I first came to the area in the early ’90s, I was pleased to find in Narrowgate a gallery run by local artists and art lovers.
Introduced to Ian and becoming involved in Alnwick and District Arts Association, I soon discovered from other members that the Gallery move from the Corn Market to Narrowgate owed much to Ian.

When Ian took over his Alnwick Garden responsibilities, he had to stand down from committee duties but still retained a great interest in the gallery and its subsequent relocation to the Alnwick Playhouse.
I was pleased when the 50th anniversary of the Bondgate Gallery was celebrated at the Playhouse in 2014 that Ian was able to collaborate with me in telling the history of the gallery and displaying work from artists past and present. It was a pleasure seeing Ian meeting up with some of his old contacts and I can now appreciate how fortunate we were to have Ian at the event.
