Alnwick's England football starlets through to World Cup quarter-finals.

THREE Lions Lucy Bronze and Lucy Staniforth have helped steer England Women's U17 side to the quarter- finals of the World Cup.
Lois Fidler's England side qualified for the last eight after finishing runners-up in Group D.

The Lionesses booked their place in the quarter-finals despite a 3-0 defeat to Korea Republic this morning.

Lucy B and Lucy S, both from Alnwick, featured in the loss to the Asian outfit.

The pair can now look forward to a quarter-final clash against Group C winners Japan. The match will take place on November 9. Group winners Korea will now take on the USA in the competition's next phase.

The winners of England v Japan will play either Denmark or Korea DPR in the semi-finals while Korea Republic or USA will tackle Germany or Canada.
