YOUNG cricketers from Alnwick Cricket Club U13 Juniors were part of a team which witnessed team mate Otis Marston score 228 runs in a limited over game which recorded more than 600 runs in total, taking it into the record books.
Playing against a touring side from United Arab Emirates, the scratch team, managed by Alan Jessop of Rothbury, was made up of four players each from Alnwick, Ashington and South North Clubs.

They thought they had achieved an unbeatable 319 runs i
n their 30 overs thanks to their fellow 13-year-old's incredible batting but the opposition fought back with a magnificent 299, including Chirag Suri's 99.

Alnwick players Nick Goulden, Tom Penny, Nick Richardson and Jonathan Roxburgh played for Ashwick Bulls in the final of the Under 13 Dubai Cup on Friday, beating Durham County in a reduced overs game hampered by heavy overnight rain.

It was thanks to the fantastic work by the ground staff at Longhirst that the game was able to go ahead.

Ashwick Bulls went on to take all the silverware – with the winning team cup, the best bowler, Jonny Turnbull, best bat, Otis Marston, and best overall player, Jonny Turnbull, for the whole tournament.

This is the second year that Ashwick Bulls have entered the competition, sponsored by Syndicates Facilities Management of Dubai, and their second win, which leaves next year's U13 side a big act to follow.

Tomorrow, Alnwick Cricket Club U13 Juniors are host to the Young Talents Cricket Academy Dubai U13 team for a friendly.
