LESBURY Bowling Club hosted their annual Open Triples competition sponsored by Longstaff's Coaches with players from all over taking part, even travelling from the south coast of England to be here.
In almost perfect conditions the round robin was competed and progressing to the semi finals where a rink from Forth Bowling Club (Whitley Bay) one from Alnwick and two from the host club. It was at this stage that the home club's hopes winning the shield were dashed as both Bob Swan's and Bob Pringle's triples went out.

This set up an intriguing final between Forth and Alnwick. After a very long day where a high standard of bowling had been displayed by all taking part the final produced no less a high standard. In the end the triple from Forth Bowling Club, G Roberts, W Kynoth and P Varty (s) overcame a very strong challenge from Alnwick's triple, M Colling, J Harper, B Ord (s).
