A GOLF coach at Rothbury will lead a team of young players in a competition in Northumberland later this month.
David Clark, who is originally from the village and now plays for Morpeth Golf Club, will be in charge of one of more than 30 teams playing in a four-ball competition at The Rock, one of the world's largest junior golf festivals at Matfen Hall.

The teams will be competing for the Rock Junior Pro Am Trophy.

The festival, sponsored by Northern Rock, is on Sunday, August 24, offers youngsters aged between five and 16 years the chance to try golf.

The festival culminates with a three-day event for the PGA North region's best, including top professional, Kenneth Ferrie – a former European Champion who is playing on the United States Tour this season.

The Rock 54 Hole Professional Tournament takes place from Monday, August 25, until Wednesday, August 27, with more than 140 professionals in the field participating.
